Medical assistants are experts in providing clinical care to patients, as well as performing various routine office and clerical duties. The well-trained medical assistant should have no difficulty in finding a rewarding and challenging position in a private physician's office, a hospital or other medical facility.The job of a medical assistant is not the same as a physician's assistant, although medical assistant training can be a good foundation for either career. And, while medical assistants do not examine, diagnose or treat patients, they may be required to participate in clinical duties such as preparing patients for examination, taking the patient's medical history, explaining treatment procedures,

physician, calling in prescriptions to pharmacies, and assisting
the physician during procedures or exams. The requirements for medical
workers will vary according to state and regional laws and regulations.The
primary function of medical assistants is to assist medical professionals
in maintaining a smooth health care operation. Duties can encompass
both the front office and the examination room areas. Medical assistants
will perform various patient care duties, such as greeting patients
and doing patient intakes, answering telephones, recording and updating medical records,
and preparing insurance documents. They may perform general correspondence,
schedule appointments, perform hospital admissions, and take care
of billing and accounting services.Medical assistants usually work
under the supervision of an office manager, physician, or a nurse.
Prospective students must possess at least a high school diploma.
Additional training may be necessary to become adept at specific,
